I’m one of the listeners of the Morning Rush in RX 93.1, and one of my favorite part of the show is the "Top Ten" of the Day. Today’s topic is about the "Top Ten Quotes from an ex". I had a boyfriend when I was fourteen years old. I was just in 3rd year high school that time; young, clueless, and innocent (well, I’m still innocent until now, haha!) I was one of those people who had a boyfriend, for the sake of having a boyfriend. That time, I felt as if I’m the only teen-ager in the world who never had a boyfriend. It’s as if I’m getting closer to "the end of the line" (which was obviously wrong). To make the long story short, I decided to answer the first jerk to ask me to be his girlfriend. ( Ok, he’s not a jerk…. almost. But we are friends now, so, hi jerk! I’m writing a blog entry about you! =D )  Our relationship was not something that I expected. Poor communication, few dates, very few arguments, and no fights. But did I love him? Oh damn, I loved him. It was a puppy love. But I never knew how to express it. And my pride was bigger than my love for him so my motto WAS: "you only get what you give". So even if I loved him so much, I chose to suppress all my affections for him. Did he love me? I don’t know. I’m not sure. And at this point in time, I don’t care. And I have no regrets. I learned a lot from our relationship, and that’s what’s important to me.

Going back to the topic, just like Del, I have two unforgettable quotes from my ex. Good and bad quotes.
Here’s the good one, he said these words while we were saying our last goodbye. This is during our break-up:

(While crying) "Basta lagi mong iisipin na mahal na mahal kita".

Yeah, I can almost hear you saying, "Jho that quote is not rare, almost every guy says that". I know. But for a man to say that during the breaking up moment (or whatever you call it), it makes the girl’s heart a lot lighter. So that is why we broke up without bitterness. And it was easier for us to be friends again.

The bad one.. Here it goes.. Be ready….
(During one of our phone conversations…)

"Buti nga mahal kita kahit pangit ka…"

Aaarrggghhh! The nerve! And do you know what I told him?

"Ang kapal ng muka mo, pangit ka rin naman!"

Hahaha! Well, it’s ok. I was only fourteen. At that time, I didn’t know how to fix my hair, how to choose the right clothes, how to carry myself well.. So in short… I was a pretty girl in rag clothes.. Hehe, just kidding. =P

So that’s it. We didn’t had a lot of conversations so there’s only few quotes that I can remember. (And for the record, I only have one ex.) Whenever he asks me why I haven’t got any boyfriend yet, I tell him, "Nadala ako sayo eh! =P"

Actually, I learned that you must never give in to pressures. You must get to know the other person WELL first before giving any answer. And if you think you deserve someone good enough, then don’t compromise. Don’t set your standards too low just to get someone, nor too high for you might scare those potential partners. If a guy isn’t brave enough to ask if he can court you, then he’s a yellow toad. If he really likes/loves you, he will always find a way to get closer to you.

Finally, for those people who think I’m unhappy just because I haven’t found the "one", well, I admit that it gets lonely sometimes, but most of the time, being single is an advantage. I have a lot of freedom and I enjoy this freedom so much. I get to decide things on my own. I have a lot of time for my family. I can go anywhere without asking for permission from anyone. I’m always available for "barkada gimiks". I have a lot of time to spend on studying and learning new things. And, last but not the least, I get to know myself better. I realized that while waiting for the right guy to arrive, I must work on becoming the right girl. And that’s what my single life is for.

I’m not saying anything against those people who are already in a relationship. If you’re happy in your relationship, then good for you. But if you’re single, don’t fret. Don’t think that mr. cupid has already forgotten you. Just be happy. Whatever your situation is, be happy. Coz everyone in this world deserves to be happy, and it’s up to you whether you choose to be happy or not.

And I’d like to end this blog with a quote from Andrew Matthews, he said:
